Week #79 – Huge Grin!- July 4th, 2016

Happy 4th of July!!!!!!!!!!

SO MUCH to be grateful for and to celebrate down here in Tijuana!! I have so much to share!

This week we were blessed with the baptism of An*****!!!  We have been teaching him for about two months. The first time we went and taught him, and basically every lesson afterward for some time, he didn’t want anything to do with the church. He is 21 years old and super smart, and believes more in science. His Dad is a member. He never read what we gave him when we visited and he was always pretty chill, never really said anything in the lessons, but ALWAYS came to church. So we kind of stopped visiting him for a little while because he wasn’t progressing……BUT he kept coming to church! We decided to just teach him all of the lessons and see what happened afterward. So we started back up and we had basically taught him everything and we ended last week. After all the lessons we said, we have taught you all of the lessons… would you like to be baptized? He said he would think about it. We went back to his house a few days later and he just had a huge grin on his face, he couldn’t stop smiling!! He hugged us when we got to his house. We asked him what had happened and he said “yes, I want to be baptized!!!” He just changed!! After that lesson we put a baptismal date for this past week and everything went perfect! He received the priesthood Sunday and was asking us how he could go to the temple! So awesome. It gets better! The baptismal service was great and his Mom came (who isn’t a member). This Sunday she came to church and said she wanted to get baptized. Today we are going over to their house and we’re going start the lessons with her and plan to baptize her at the end of the month. SO EXCITING!!!

Ce*** got his temple recommend this week!!! He is doing great and should be getting a calling here pretty soon.

This morning to celebrate the 4th, me and a few missionaries went to the only ihop in TJ to eat pancakes!!! hahaha it was so much fun! It was packed too, pretty crazy. We left our tip in the form of a big 4, with a bunch of pesos.

Elder Carreto was transferred yesterday! I got my new companion today, his name is Elder Diaz, he is from San Luis Potosi here in Mexico. He just got moved up to be a zone leader with me so it will be pretty fun to show him what we’re doing here in the zone right now. Super stoked to be with him! We’re going to have a great time.

Other than that nothing too crazy!! Lots of new missionaries! Lots of changes, I’m super excited for this transfer! I’m happy to be able to stay in this ward for 6 months. It’s going to be a great experience. I love the members so much and I love being so close to the temple!!

Thanks for all your love an support!!! HAVE AN AWESOME WEEK!

Week # 78 – Such great people! – June 27th, 2016

Sister Missionaries

This week was so awesome! Tons of great experiences! Its our last Monday together for Elder Carreto and I, so I don’t think we have a ton of time to write but I will try to put the best of this week into my letter!!

Monday we had a meeting with our President and all of the zone leaders. We talked a lot about what we need to do in the mission to improve. We are doing well but we’re learning and being trained on how to do even better. I’m so grateful for the lessons I’m learning both at meetings like this as well as on the streets of Tijuana.

We have started a new way to do interchanges. What we do now is one of us goes to another area, and the other missionary comes to our sector. We are starting a new way to train in the mission and that is a “model area” The zone leaders area is the model area for the zone, and we don’t leave. We invite missionaries to come to our area and work with us. Its different because we do divisions with four missionaries for a day and then those four sleep in our house at night, and we do a ton of work. It’s pretty fun and we get a lot of work done. This week we found ten new investigators, set nine baptism dates and have two committed to be baptized this week in our area! What blessings!!

El* and Er** haven’t got married yet 😦 we are going to try and get it done this week.) They are so great though. Such great people. El* gives us food whenever we want. hahaah she wants our family to come down after the mission and she is going to make us all her pasole which is sooooo good!

I really love this ward! It is so great. The sister missionaries baptized this week which was so great. They work so hard and I’m so happy for them! (See pic) Actually one of the districts in the zone had every companionship baptize this week! We have worked really hard so that everyone could baptize and it has paid off!

I LOVE AND MISS YOU ALL! Have an awesome week!

Remember to preach the gospel as well… D&C 38:39-42!!! I tried to copy and paste it but it didnt work so look it up! 😀

Week #76 & #77 – Tijuana is really caliente! – June 20th, 2016

So sorry about not writing last week, I don’t know why but my email didn’t send and now I cant find it. Just a quick about about last week though.

The week went really well. Ka******* didn’t get baptized for a few reasons but we are still visiting her and we are hoping in a couple weeks that she can get baptized. We have two other investigators, El*and Er**, that are so awesome!! They invite us to eat every week and have been going to church for a long time. El* has about a year going to church, but her husband Er** never wanted to listen to the missionaries. The first missionaries that he started listening to were me and Elder Carreto. He started listening and after about three months now of teaching him they are going to get baptized!!! It could have been a lot sooner but they need to get married. They went all last week trying to get the correct paperwork but it didn’t work. I’ve said it before, but it’s very hard to get married in Mexico. It takes a lot of time and it’s expensive, so most couples just don’t bother. Me and Elder Carreto went this morning to help Er** get his birth certificate and some blood tests (You have to get blood tests here to get married too, which is also expensive) Things are progressing and we hope to get everything done soon!

This week went by really slow. We didn’t have too much success. Hahah we are really happy though. We worked hard but not a lot of people came to church, it has been really hot, we have been working a lot with the zone and didn’t have too much time to work our own area. This week is going to be a lot better though.

I’m really loving my time here in this ward. I think its the ward that I have loved the most. All the members are so great. Our ward mission leader is so great as well. He takes us out to eat all the time, comes to a ton of lessons, and is always there for us. I’m really stoked to be here and hope I don’t get transferred even though I’ve been here for a long time now. The transfers are in two weeks, and I think one of us is going to leave, but we will see what happens!

Thanks for all your love and support!!!!!!!! I LOVE YOU GUYS!!
